My husband and I, parents of three in Huntsville, have found it challenging to schedule regular date nights due to our parental responsibilities and lack of family support nearby. Although we’ve become experts at creative at-home dates, there’s something special about stepping out of the house and experiencing a proper date together.
Our journey with Scene That Tours began in 2020 when we won tickets for a local tour. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit soon after, and we would miss the chance to use our tickets. Over the years, I’ve seen followed their social media outlets waiting for the perfect moment to join a tour. Finally, the stars aligned with the introduction of their new and exciting Daytime Food Tour.
This tour not only promised a unique lunch experience but also provided the perfect opportunity for my husband and me to escape our daily routine, invest in each other, and discover more gems of Huntsville.
Our date began with a warm welcome at the designated meeting point, where we had the pleasure of meeting other like-minded guests. Most were solo adventurers enjoying an afternoon out, but there was one other couple with the same idea as us – a daytime escape to savor the local cuisine and the charm of Huntsville.
Our knowledgeable tour guide, Denise, kickstarted the journey by sharing the historical significance of our starting point. Standing at a local tea shop, we discovered that the ground beneath us marked the birthplace of Alabama as the 22nd state. Despite our familiarity with the area, Denise’s insights added a layer of depth and intrigue to our surroundings.
As we strolled through Huntsville, Denise expertly guided us to carefully curated stops, each offering a unique blend of local history and delicious eats. From charming tea shops working on using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible to bakeries that repurpose day-old goods into yummy bread puddings, every location had a story to tell. Denise’s engaging narratives turned a simple stroll into a captivating exploration of Huntsville’s past and present.
The Daytime Food Tour surpassed our expectations, leaving us with full stomachs, newfound knowledge, and a deeper connection to Huntsville and each other. Beyond being a tourist activity, city tours like these provide an excellent opportunity for locals to plug into their community, fostering a sense of pride and appreciation for the place they call home.
While the Daytime Food Tour is Scene That’s latest offering, it’s just one facet of their diverse portfolio. Whether you’re interested in driving tours covering Civil Rights landmarks, exploring historic worship spaces, or enjoying a private tour tailored to your preferences, Scene That Tours has something for everyone.
As our date day showcased, Scene That Tours invites you to soak up the unique flavors of Huntsville while building lasting memories in the heart of the community.
Book a tour, escape the routine, and let Scene That turn an ordinary day into an exciting adventure.
