The city of Madison, Alabama has plenty to offer when it comes to thrift and vintage stores and a while back OVE featured a great piece on the best spots to go for the shopping-savvy residents of Madison. You can read it here.
Well, I decided to engage in a little friendly competition from my neck of the woods. I was convinced there was a treasure trove of stores out there waiting for me, so I channeled my bargain-hunting mother and sister and set out for thrifting and vintage shopping in Huntsville.
Huntsville can hold it’s own in the vintage and antique corner!
7 Great Places for Thrifting and Vintage shopping in Huntsville, AL
Through my searching I came across more than just vintage clothing; among the amazing thrifting spots in Huntsville I found there was also something to offer music snobs and bibliophiles as well.
1. Vintage Market and Paint Studio
Antiques and art live side by side in this local treasure trove. On top of vintage and antique accessories, the store also carries art supplies and hosts painting classes.

2. Karma Rags
Both vintage and contemporary clothing can be found in Lowe Mill’s biggest clothing store. Customers can also find unique shoes, hats, and jewelry throughout the space.

3. Little Bit’s Vintage
This fashion sensation is the first mobile clothing truck in Huntsville, and can be found downtown during the Street Food Gatherings.
Fans can also buy clothes and “track the trailer” through Instagram and Facebook. (Editor’s note: Little Bit’s Vintage is also our cover model for this week’s 5 Things to do This Weekend! Yay!)

4. Beloved Books and Gallery
Buyers get to name their own price on certain titles in this independent bookstore and art gallery. Beloved Books also hosts regular readings by local authors, and has a monthly book club.

5. Gypsie June Vintage
Bohemian would be the best word to describe this vintage store, which is run out of the home of owner Megan.
Buyers can go online to find the perfect piece from a collection of women’s clothing spanning the 60s and 70s. You can shop for clothes on the website, Facebook page or Instagram.

7. Railroad Station Antiques and Interiors
One floor isn’t enough to host the amount of merchandise Railroad Station has to offer. Instead, vintage hunters will find three full floors of merchandise tucked away inside this historic building. The first floor displays mainly antique jewelry, cutlery and home furnishings, while the other two floors house books, clothing and more antique furniture.

Love your list! There are a couple I hadn’t heard of yet. If any of your readers make it down towards New Market, definitely stop at Vintage Collectibles on Green Street. It’s open Thursday-Saturday and is chock full of “stuff”. Sweetest owners!! And afterwards, they can pop by Ole Hickory BBQ for a bite to eat. ~smiles~
Thanks for the suggestion Denise!
Fun list! There are a couple more great places to check out with antique/vintage/repurposed goodies/locally made items: Flucy Lucy’s on Clinton and Governor’s (near Bandito Burrito) and University Pickers (University Dr next door to Mattress King).
Those are great suggestions! I will definitely have to check those out. 🙂
Awesome article Stephanie! I loved it and it was well written! I even discovered some places that I wasn’t aware of here in Huntsville. Thank you for including our shop; it meant a lot and we sincerely appreciate it!!
Hi Stephanie!
Great Article!!
I’m an avid thrifter! I even have a blog about it and I’m the only Rocket City Blogger who blogs about fashion! I have visited several of those places, but there are ALOT more places for the more “frugal” shoppers. Like myself! 🙂
