Indian food is definitely one of my favorite cuisines so when I heard there was a new restaurant opening in Huntsville, I was VERY excited! If you’re looking for a new Indian cuisine experience, search no further than The Curry. Serving modern Indian food, Huntsville’s newest restaurant will prove to delight your tastebuds and provide a comfortable spot for mingling with a big group of people or dining solo. Located at 607 Andrew Jackson Way NE in Huntsville, you won’t be able to miss this spot with its bright pink neon sign. The inside is also adorned in eye catching pink and yellow, and is decorated with plants from Botanica HSV and art created by local artists.
I was lucky enough to attend their soft opening. I loved being able to socialize with other local content creators and foodies, as well as being able to speak with the owners, investors, and managers. I am convinced that The Curry will thrive here in Huntsville, and you won’t be disappointed with their food. The Curry is dedicated to creating dishes true to India made from only whole, fresh foods. The culinary artist, Chef Linil, is a master at Indian cuisine and works hard to provide guests with the highest quality curries, biryanis, dosas, and more!
Here is a peek at what I was able to enjoy on this particular evening:
We started with a welcome drink of Mango Mastani – a thick mango shake topped with nuts and sliced fruits. This was a sweet starter and awesome conversation piece.
Following this was a soup and salad delight. Palak and Makai Soup made of corn kernels & spinach with herbs and black pepper. This soup was my FAVORITE, and I loved the taste of savory corn and spinach, slight spiciness, and nutty flavor.
Next, we tried the Carrot Quinoa and Beet Root Salad which was composed of thinly sliced carrots, beet strips, & quinoa mixed with herbs and yogurt dressing. This is a cold dish, and pairs well with the savory soup in my opinion.
After the soup and salad, we had more appetizers! I loved the Onion Bhaji/ Chutneys. These crispy fried sliced onions are fragrantly spiced and coated in chickpea batter. Pair it with the delicious green sauce for a kick of flavor. You won’t regret trying this one!
Next came the Tuna Cutlet and Sweet & Spicy Tomato Chutney – fried tuna patties and potatoes coated with herbs and spices.
We were all so excited for our main entrees, and they came to the tables hot and ready. We chose to split the Pepper Chicken Biriyani and the Jammu Rajma with Jeera Rice. The Pepper Chicken Biriyani consists of rice and peppered chicken cooked together and layered with aromatic spices and golden fried onions & herbs. Pair this dish with the cucumber raita (think taziki sauce) and you will have a party in your mouth! The Jammu Rajma with Jeera Rice is the perfect vegan dish, and was my favorite! Kidney bean curry with cinnamon flavoring – pair this the garlic naan and it’s a perfect and filling meal. I recommend dipping the garlic naan in the dish for a symphony of flavors you won’t regret experiencing.
I definitely have a sweet tooth, so I was very excited for dessert. We were treated to the Gulab Jamun and honestly, one is all you need! It was so sweet, thick, and delicious – I highly recommend trying it. This dessert consisted of solid milk balls in rose flavored syrup accompanied with thinly sliced pistachios (you can get the pistachios removed if you have a nut allergy). SO TASTY!
Thank you again @thecurryhsv for hosting a memorable evening with great food and awesome company. My favorite items of the night were the Palak and Makai Soup, Onion Bhaji Chutneys, and the Jammu Rajma & Jeera Rice! I personally am not a HUGE fan of spicy food, but their dishes were mild on the heat scale and I enjoyed every bit; however, if you LOVE spice and heat you can always get your dish amped up!
The Curry is currently offering a buffet and have recently added biryani lunch bowls, along with vegan and GF options. They had their grand opening in early October, and are still fine-tuning their process and menu so be sure to come back again and again to experience their evolution!
