What is a Street Food Gathering
Started by Downtown Huntsville, Inc. in 2014, the Street Food Gathering is made up of food trucks, food trailers and food vendor tents.
It’s food served on the street in all of it’s different forms. This happens once a month from April – October (so, basically “summer”)!
Throw in music, games, craft beer, the use of Big Spring Park to cop a squat and you have what makes up the Huntsville Street Food Season.
And even though you can access Food Trucks more now than ever (looking at you Pinhook Provisions Street Food Park), no where else are there so many found in one place and accessible to so many people.
It’s basically one big foodie party!
What’s New & Helpful Tips
In addition to the food, there will be live music and other fun activities throughout the season.
Returning sponsor Jerry Damson Honda / Acura and media partner Rocket City Broadcasting will even be issuing a new “challenge” this year. Inspired by “Dude Perfect“, you’ll be able to try your luck throwing a football through a Honda sunroof, but with a twist!
Also new this year, is a review process for vendors to apply for participation. This review includes menus and truck design. Downtown Huntsville Inc.’s goal is to continue to have a large event but also really emphasize the high quality food and the culinary experience.
But remember, even if you don’t “eat” at a Street Food Gathering, the opportunity to socialize with friends and family, and spend some time in Big Spring Park is worth it.
Quick tips:
- Bring cash.
- Arrive early.
- Prepare to stand in line.
- Remember in these early months, it can get cool when the sun goes down.
- Didn’t bring a blanket or chairs to sit in? Grab a spot on the Huntsville Museum of Art steps. It’s a great place to people watch from.
But while you’re there…try the food!

Not all Street Food Gatherings will be held on Church Street, though most of them are. The best way to find out the exact location is to follow DHI on social media.
