Spring Break is here for many of our students and it’s a joyous time. A week of no school coupled with longer and warmer days is a recipe for fun!
Whether you’re looking for things to do this week or any week, free is always affordable. Here are a few suggestions of completely FREE things to do.
#1 Spend the Afternoon in Big Spring Park.
Explore Big Spring Park! Bring a few quarters to feed the ducks and fish. Head under Monroe to Thrasher Fountain. Guaranteed to tire out kids and adults alike.
#2 Hike the Madison County Nature Trail on Green Mountain
A great trail for kids of all ages with interesting things to explore along the way. A family favorite.
#3 Fly a Kite
This is kite season, so get out there and fly a kite. It’s surprisingly fun (if you forgot) and the perfect unique spring-time activity that you can do in your own backyard.
#4 Take Your Dog to the Dog Spot DogPark
A great place to let the dogs run and a great way to get the kids outdoors. Located on Cleveland Avenue, take the whole family and your dog will be in absolute heaven.
#5 Bike on a Greenway
Find a nearby Greenway. These are paved trails and excellent for a family bike ride or leisurely stroll.
#6 Visit the Library
Your local Library branch (there are actually 12 branches throughout Madison County) is a fantastic resource for entertainment and education. We recommend indulging in a book series to last the whole week long.
#7 Play in a Public Park
Find your favorite new park in our Directory of Parks, Greenways, & Trails. Free fun and so many options… it’s the perfect way to spend the whole day (or the whole week!).
Enjoy your week!
