About The NCAC

If you’re not familiar with the National Children’s Advocacy Center and the amazing work they do, let me fix that. To say that they have revolutionized the nation’s response to child abuse is an understatement. At a time when children and their families are going through, what I can only describe as unspeakable horrors, the NCAC brings hope, caring, and compassion.

How do they do this? By collarbaorating and working togther. And it all began in 1985 with Former Congressman Robert E. “Bud” Cramer (AL), who was serving as Disctrict Attorney at the time. He noticed that the social service and the criminal justice systems were not working together effectively. This disconnect added to the children’s emotional distress by creating a segmented, repetitious, and often frightening experience for the child victims.

So he brought everyone together. The child advocacy center model developed through Former Congressman Cramer’s vision pulls together law enforcement, criminal justice, child protective service, medical and mental health workers onto one coordinated team.

This model has been replicated across the world serving as a model for the 800+ CACs now operating in the United States and more than 10 countries throughout the world.
