Fall has always been my favorite time of year. This time between the heat of summer and the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is a great opportunity to enjoy the area. To help showcase Huntsville, the Downtown Forty-Seven is hosting the fourth annual Saturday on the Square Event presented by Theatre Huntsville.
Join Us Downtown
This is a free family friendly event that will be held on October 20th, from 11am-3pm. We will have activites on all four sides of the Courthouse square in Downtown Huntsville. This year’s event will follow the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run.
So, if you are participating in the Ribbon Run or simply a spectator, we invite you to stay and enjoy all of the activities that we have planned.
The square will be filled with:
- An art marketplace
- Food
- Inflatables
- Retail
- Face painting
- Karaoke
- And much more!
About the Downtown Forty-Seven
Now you may ask, “Who is the Downtown Forty-Seven?” The organization itself is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit. We were founded in 2008 and have been working to promote all that Downtown Huntsville has to offer ever since.
Our mission states that we are committed to encouraging, supporting, and promoting the ongoing cultural, aesthetic, social, and economic vitality of the downtown area of Huntsville, Alabama.
This statement represents who we are as an organization. As individuals, we are a group of young professionals that came together for no other reason than we love our community and want to see it thrive.
In addition to the Saturday on the Square event, we also have hosted and promoted many other activities and projects for the enjoyment of our neighbors and visitors alike. From art projects such as the Spaces Sculpture Trail, to our newest project, Tinsel Trail, the Downtown Forty-Seven continues to support and promote downtown Huntsville area.[spacer size=”0″]
Why I Joined
As a native of this area, joining this group has been so gratifying. It has been a wonderful experience to work along some of the brightest individuals that share my passion for this community. My career has its roots in marketing. I enjoy marketing because it tells the good points of a situation or organization. Likewise, the Downtown Forty-Seven has created an outlet for me to share all of the wonderful things about Huntsville that continue to make me proud to call it home.
For more information on the Downtown Forty-Seven, please visit our website or send us an email. Also, if you would like more information regarding membership email us.
We look forward to seeing you Saturday on the Square!

She is absolutely passionate about the Huntsville market, being one of the few natives left. Well, she grew up in Athens but, close enough. When Kelli gets bored, she dresses up her poor, helpless dog who absolutely hates being dressed as a ballerina… or bunny… or Santa… or really anything at all. A raving Alabama fan, Kelli gets to Tuscaloosa as often as she can to watch the Tide roll.
