As a California native, anything out of sight from the freeway is “hidden”.
By that metric, Downtown Madison is a hidden treasure.
It requires not only leaving the highway, but also driving an entire mile down the road. It’s tough, but I have faith in you. When you reach your destination, you will be greeted by an array of delicious dining options and small shops, situated in renovated historic buildings.
Officially known as the “Madison Station Historic District”, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
