Back in August, we had one HOT weekend full of fun events. Let me tell you right now…September will NOT be outdone!
I’m dubbing Saturday, September 27, 2014 “One Colorful Day”, and that’s not just because of Huntsville’s first Color Run.
It’s because all of these events seem to be bright, fun and kinda epic!
1. Huntsville Beer Week
When: September 19 – 27
Where: various events around Huntsville & Madison
Technically this mostly precedes the day we are discussing, and OVE will have lots more on Huntsville Beer Week coming up.
I’m including it here to get it on your radar and because it wraps up September 27 with one of our other highlighted events (Mercury Rising Chili Festival).
2. The Color Run 5k
When: Saturday, September 27, 9:00 am – noon
Where: Big Spring Park
The official Color Run 5k is coming to Huntsville and painting the town with, well you know, color. Lots and lots of it! If you’ve never seen a Color Run before, my best advice is to Google it. Huntsville may never be the same!
Tickets are $40 per person for a 4+ team and $45 per person for an individual. Additional packages are available. Registration is here.
3. 5th Annual International Festival
When: Saturday, September 27, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Where: UAH, new Charger Union and Greenway
This is a really fun event. The International Society of Huntsville is hosting the 5th Annual International Festival of North Alabama!
Enjoy International cuisine, countries exhibition, open air market, live music and children’s activities. Free admission!
4. Mercury Rising Chili Festival
When: Saturday, September 27, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Where: Big Spring Park
Start preparing those secret recipes to compete at this premier Huntsville event, the first Mercury Rising Chili Festival! Attendees will be treated to over 40 chili teams’ chili creations for tasting and a variety of craft beers supported by Free the Hops. There will also be live entertainment, a kids’ zone, and plenty of craft beer.
Tickets are now available with $15 for general admission, $12 during the pre-sale and an extra $10 Brew Pass which includes 2 pours, 2 samples and a souvenir mug.
5. Big Spring Crush Downtown Wine Festival
When: Saturday, September 27, 4:00 – 9:00 pm
Where: Big Spring Park East
It’s still in your best interest to know about Big Spring Crush, Huntsville’s inaugural downtown wine festival, even though ticket sales just ended.
This festival will feature over 200 wine labels, entertainment and great food! This is the first of what will become a huge annual event.
Got tickets to Big Spring Crush? We tell you how to navigate it like a pro. See you there!
There are LOTS of other events happening between now and the upcoming COLORFUL day, and you can see what with a visit to our calendar.
