While we are still waiting for the day Huntsville has its own fully dedicated vegetarian/vegan restaurant, we are grateful for these 5 new spots bringing unique options to those who are vegetarian/vegan or simply just looking for a meat-free meal.
Hops N Guac
No, Huntsville doesn’t have too many Mexican restaurants! Hops N Guac just might be one of the newest restaurants with the most vegetarian friendly menu. Nearly everything can be prepared vegetarian such as burritos, tacos, bowls, and quesadillas. Their portobello taco and roasted veggie taco are phenomenal and extra delicious paired with a side of rice and beans or guacamole. Vegan cheese is also available here.

Mazzara’s Italian Kitchen
Mazzara’s went full on vegan with their offering of Vegan Alfredo Lasagne which also happens to be gluten free! Instead of noodles this dish is made with zucchini, squash, Brussels sprouts, and mushrooms all topped with vegan parmigiana cheese. This dish exceeded our expectations, but as lovers of pasta, cheese, and marinara sauce we’re hoping for something like eggplant parmesan in the future! Try some gelato while you’re there too!

Melt
Melt offers the Beyond Burger with classic toppings like cheese, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions. If melty cheese is really your jam we’d recommend ordering the Mac Melt: a grilled cheese sandwich filled with house made mac and cheese. If you’re extra hungry try the Mac N Egg Roll or Honey Baked Goat Cheese for an appetizer.

Fresko Grille
We love Mediterranean food with “naturally” vegetarian options like falafel, baba ganoush, and tabbouleh. Any dish where you can customize your own bowl and choose your toppings is right up our alley. We’ve been several times are are still trying different combinations. The options are endless!

El Cazador at Stovehouse
We’ve been ordering vegetarian burritos and quesadillas from El Cazador even though they weren’t on the menu when they were still known as the Taco Bus. Since their move to Stovehouse we’ve noticed they added these items to their menu. YAY! Pair it with a horchata for a refreshing drink that doubles as dessert.
