Looking for some good ole’ fashion family fun this weekend? If you have ever wondered what it would be like to live without iPhones, Playstations, and the latest episode of Duck Dynasty, round the family up and bring them to Mooresville, Alabama. The 53 residents occupying the historical town are entertaining modern day visitors on May 17th and 18th for the Mooresville Walking Tour Weekend.
Back in Time
The fun begins Friday May 17th at 9 am. Practice your biscuit baking skills with the assistance of Nathalie Dupree, join Caron Quick of The Windsor Chair Shop to create a colonial finish with Milk Paint, and take an oil painting class from professional artist, Carole Foret. Afterwards, tour four historic homes, feast on beef tenderloin from Food Fite, and enjoy music by John McCutcheon, folk music’s renaissance man and 7 time Grammy nominee.
Experience 19th century village life on Saturday by touring the oldest frame building in Alabama, the Stagecoach Tavern. Next, you will stroll to the Brick Church, built in 1839, and take a peek at one of the oldest Post Office buildings in country. Be sure to check out the pony cart rides, Art Mart, and old-fashioned toys demonstrations. The last stop will be the Church of Christ where General James A. Garfield preached during the Civil War.

Pricing for Friday’s classes, demonstrations, and dinner varies and requires registration. Visit the Moorseville, AL website to order tickets to Friday’s events. General admission for Saturday’s Walking Tour is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12-6pm. No charge for children younger than 6. Tickets to the tour are available at the gate or online.
