“Well, it’s a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
‘Neath the cover of October skies”
Van Morrison, Moondance
Well here in Huntsville you will have to settle for a Moon Dance under September Skies. September 21st to be exact. Haven’t ever attended the Moon Over Three Caves Dance? Well you are missing out on one of Huntsville’s most unique events.

The Setting
The Three Caves is a retired limestone quarry, located in the Blossomwood neighborhood, that is owned and protected by the Land Trust of North Alabama. The Land Trust seeks to preserve North Alabama green spaces for future generations. To continue their mission of acquiring and protecting land, they hold several fundraisers each year. The Moon Over Three Caves Dance is one of the most important fundraisers the Land Trust holds.
Creating Memories
For us the Land Trust is not just about preserving land, but also about creating and preserving memories. Our first date was to a spring concert in the three caves, my future wife thought it was a perfect spot for a romantic first date.

A few years later, we got engaged at the Moon Dance. The Moon Over Three Caves has become an anticipated tradition now for us and our friends and family. Not just because of the significance of the spot for us, but for all that attend it becomes a magical night away from the norm.
The scenery sets the stage for a night that makes you feel like you’re a hundred miles away from Huntsville and in reality your car is parked just a 5 minute bus ride away at the Huntsville Hospital.
This year’s event will feature music by JUICE and food from Carrabba’s. The cash bar is actually reasonably priced but any savings will probably be spent at the huge silent auction. This event is A LOT of fun and tickets sell out every year, so call (256) 534-LAND and reserve your tickets today!
About The Land Trust

Thanks to the conservation efforts of the Land Trust, we know we will not be the last couple to have such important memories of the Three Caves or any of the other numerous protected greenspaces in North Alabama.
It is amazing to realize that already the Land Trust has helped create over 45 miles of public trails and that we have three preserves, each larger than Central Park, within the Huntsville city limits. These trails are open for all to enjoy and will still be available for our children and their children to someday enjoy.
