Meet our blogger Amy Jones, by day Marketing Director for Broadway Theatre League. By night, blogger extraordinaire.
Background
Where were you born?
I was born in Florence, but was raised in Leighton. I had to move away to the “big city” of Huntsville!
How long have you lived in Huntsville?
I’ve lived here 18 years now. Well, I lived in Madison first but then settled in the Five Points area in 2000.
Day job?
I am the marketing director at Broadway Theatre League. I like to joke that I was destined to work here as I had applied more than once over the years. I always came to see the shows too and was a huge fan. It’s such a wonderful organization deeply rooted in Huntsville history and I’m honored to be a part of it.
Organizations you’re involved in?
I’ve been in the Junior League of Huntsville for 9 years now. It has absolutely enriched my life and I hope in return, I’ve passed that on to my community.
Favorites
Favorite local event?
I love the Sidewalk Arts Stroll, even more so now that it’s paired with the Green Street Market and the new events geared towards kids. It’s great to get out and see and do so much all while enjoying a stroll around our beautiful downtown.
Favorite event you’ve written about for OVE?
Definitely Panoply. It’s a great event and a true Huntsville treasure.

Favorite local attraction?
Monte Sano State Park. I used to walk and ride the trails, but now you’re more likely to find me with my kids playing in the park.
Favorite local restaurant?
Bandito Burrito on Governor’s. My family goes there every Saturday and has for years and years and years. At this point, it just feels wrong if we don’t go. For the nice evening out, I like Grille 29.
Imagine…
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
As much as I would like to think I’m kind of an Emma Stone, in reality I think Kristin Wiig would be spot on.
If you had a million dollars to spend on anything, what would you do?
After setting up my kid’s futures and eliminating all excuses for them not to go all the way up through grad school, I would love to go back to school myself and travel more.
If you could have a superpower what would it be? Why?
Though technically not a superpower, I would like to be like Jasper in the Twilight books and be able to control people’s moods. I would want to keep everyone around me in a good mood all of the time.
If you could be any famous person (dead or alive) for a week, who would it be?
Probably, frivolously, someone like Katy Perry, so I could sing and dance for a change. Then I could dye my hair rainbow colors and maybe go hang out with Taylor Swift and write songs about John Mayer. If I’m going to be someone else for a week, might as well be super silly and have fun.

What would the title of your autobiography be?
“Just Getting Started”. It would be a retrospective of the first forty years of my life which have done a wonderful job setting me up to accomplish great things in the next forty.
Every Day
Last book you read?
I have been burning through YA fiction on the Kindle for several months now, and not particularly good fiction at that! I just started Anna Karenina though, because I’ve never read it and I need to make my brain do a little work for a change.
Favorite play/musical?
My all-time favorite musical is Les Miserable. I was instantly mesmerized the first time I saw it and nothing will ever top it. Strong statement from me because I’ve seen a lot of really great performances.
Do you make your bed?
Kinda. It’s passably neat, but I wouldn’t call it “made”.
Chocolate or Vanilla?
I will always choose chocolate. Always.
