Thursday, March 10, is the International Day of Awesomeness. I am getting an early start talking about awesomeness….most specifically what makes Huntsville awesome.
So, what does?
I have a few things to say on the matter.

What Makes Huntsville Awesome?
The Day of Awesomeness is designed to celebrate all things awesome. I started looking into what that might mean to different people by surveying my own co-workers.
Here’s what they had to say, in no particular order.
“What makes Huntsville awesome to you?”
- Space Camp – from the alumni
- Our vibrant arts community – from the actress
- My family – from the native
Their answers made it perfectly clear what I already knew…but I’ll get to that in a second.
Our Valley Events
I searched “awesome” on this page and saw 151 blog posts that say that something in Huntsville is awesome. In fact, we make it our mission to help you find awesome things to do.
Part of the Day of Awesomeness is celebrating what makes you awesome, so that’s my queue to brag a little.
Our Valley Events is awesome!!

Too Much Awesome?
There is no such thing as awesome in moderation.
Which leads me to my answer to “What makes Huntsville awesome to you?”
What makes Huntsville awesome to me is it’s the place I chose to put down my roots. Originally from the Muscle Shoals area, I fell in love with Huntsville because of its opportunities. For me, they have been awesome opportunities.
The Answer
Long ago I had a job where I coordinated with people coming into Huntsville from out of town for training classes. They always seemed to have a negative opinion of “Alabama” when I spoke to them and wondered what there could possibly be to do in Huntsville.
I always turned it around and asked what their interests were. You see, I could give lots of ideas, once I knew if they were passionate about music, fine dining, nature, history, etc. Those out-of-towners would have been surely disappointed if they came to Huntsville, checked into the hotel and said, “Now what?”. I helped them find the awesome, and leave raving about Huntsville and the fun they had.
That should go for you too.
You can come to this website every day seeking entertainment, fun, things to do, events to plan for, bringing your own idea of what makes Huntsville awesome.
That’s the answer. The answer is YOU.
Have an awesome day!
