Tollgate Greenway at Bankhead Trailhead Opening
The Land Trust of North Alabama (LTNA) invites members of the media to attend the official opening of the Tollgate Greenway on Monday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Bankhead Trailhead.
This exciting project creates a 1.2-mile paved, multi-use greenway following a segment of the historic Toll Gate Road on Monte Sano. Beginning at the Land Trust’s Bankhead Trailhead and connecting with the closed section of Bankhead Parkway, the greenway provides pedestrians and cyclists with a safe and scenic route along the western slope of the mountain. It also expands access to nature for individuals with limited mobility who cannot utilize traditional natural-surface trails.

The opening celebration will include remarks from community leaders, including Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, as well as other local officials and project partners who helped bring the vision to life. Light refreshments will be served.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of the Tollgate Greenway with our community,” said Marie Bostick, Executive Director of the Land Trust of North Alabama. “This project has been years in the making and represents the power of collaboration between our donors, the City of Huntsville, and Monte Sano State Park. The Tollgate Greenway will allow more people than ever to experience the beauty and benefits of the outdoors in a safe way.”
