If you think about it, Huntsville is a lot like Minecraft.
We have a lot of diverse elements around town, and they’re all being constructed in different ways by a lot of smart and creative people.

Which made us wonder:
If you’re looking to build your own version of Huntsville in Minecraft, what are the parts you would need to make it complete?
Huntsville’s Minecraft Building Blocks
Grass Blocks – Big Spring Park
If you’re looking for a location that basically is a Minecraft work in progress, look no further than Big Spring Park.
Engineers and construction workers have been moving their own blocks in the past few months getting the area ready for the warm weather months.
Grass blocks will make up much of the green space in Big Spring Park, but a lot of Bedrock and Clay are also being installed around the lake itself which should make for a perfect location for events like Panoply.
Which makes us wonder, how do you construct an umbrella in Minecraft?
Cobblestone – Madison Quarry
One of the foolproof ways to build a giant structure in Minecraft is to gather up as much cobblestone as you can.
These stone blocks can be found everywhere and can easily be piled up to build giant towers, bridges, and anything else needed in the Overworld.
If you’re looking for a great place in Madison County to pick some up, look no further than the Madison Quarry.
If you can get around the giant pool and the submerged missiles and jets, you can find enough cobblestone to build just about anything.
Redstone – Redstone Arsenal
You knew this one was coming.
In Minecraft, Redstone is the red element that can power different things in the game. In Huntsville, it’s the location that birthed the Redstone Rocket and paved the way for our town to become the Rocket City.
Just keep an eye out for all of the TNT blocks being used nearby that are being used in all of the big booms heard almost daily throughout Huntsville.
The Creeper
We also have to throw in a warning about this guy.
You’ve probably already heard about him.
He’s climbing in your windows, and he’s snatching your supplies up. Make sure to hide your swords, hide your pickaxes, and hide your armor because he’s exploding everything out here.
What other elements would you use if you were building Huntsville in Minecraft?
