Look at this list of movies!
- Toy Story
- A Bug’s Life
- Toy Story 2
- Monsters, Inc.
- Finding Nemo
- The Incredibles
- Cars
- Ratatouille
- Wall-E
- Up
- Toy Story 3
- Cars 2
- Brave
Now imagine a video montage set to the most memorable scores from each and hearing the music live. THAT! That is what’s in store for you when the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra presents Pixar in Concert, January 18 at 7:00 pm.
Magical Music
You’ve seen at least one of the movies from that list. I know you have. Whether you saw Toy Story in the theater when you were a kid in 1995 or you took your own children to see Brave in 2012, Pixar films have forever changed animation as we know it and impacted our lives with their unforgettable stories. If you’ve never been the same since the beginning of Up or the end of Finding Nemo, this is the one HSO concert you have to see.
Family Format
It’s also the one HSO concert to experience as a family! Jennifer Doss, HSO’s Director of Marketing and Development, says “This concert will be a treat for every member of the family as they watch all the Pixar films they know and love, perfectly choreographed to the live, magical music of a full orchestra.”
Doss plans to bring her own children to the show saying, “My 12-year-old and 7-year-old daughters cannot wait to go to this concert and I love having the opportunity of exposing them to a professional symphony and live music comprised of classical instruments in a format they will enjoy. It is going to be a memorable and fun evening for all of us.”
To make it even easier to have a full family night-on-the-town, the concert begins at 7:00 pm in the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall.
Pixar Pops
Pixar in Concert is the second show of HSO’s Pops Series. The Pops Series focuses on contemporary music and offers a dynamic and diverse program to mix it up with the Classical and Casual Classics Series. Pixar in Concert will be conducted by Joseph Lee, HSO’s resident conductor. For all upcoming performances of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, please visit hso.org.
Huntsville is very lucky to be able to see this concert. We have the only venue in the Southeast where it is being performed. Jennifer Doss told me that other cities where it is being presented include Dallas, Chicago and New York as well as international venues including Paris, Osaka, and Nuremburg! We are lucky enough to be home to the oldest, continuously operating professional orchestra in the state of Alabama, as well as getting some of the best concerts performed by that orchestra.
Don’t miss this beautiful combination of music and animation performed just for us!
