You know the saying “When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade”? Well, in the south, that same sentiment can apply to snow. When it snows in the south, you make snow cream!
It’s surprisingly easy to do. So easy in fact, that I made it! If I can make it, you can too.
How to Make Snow Cream
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- gallon of snow (or giant bowl full!)
If you don’t have the foresight to set containers out when it starts snowing, never fear. A spatula and a layer of clean snow will work just fine.
Scrape off the top bit of snow and scoop up the middle part for snow cream. Just make sure you take it from something like your patio furniture and not the hood of your car!
Mix the ingredients together in a large bowl. Slowly add the clean snow, mixing together as fast as you can.
In a few short minutes, you have snow cream! Nom nom nom!!!!!
Bonus
- Add toppings just like regular ice cream.
- Experiment with additional ingredients to mix up the flavors.
- Pop it in the freezer to firm it up. This is my favorite way to enjoy snow cream.
BONUS BONUS: Better yet, try Piper & Leaf’s recipe for tea infused snow cream. YUM!
