Food trucks!
Food trucks food trucks food trucks. Food trucks.
Yep, food trucks.

I have a 500 word limit on this article. I seriously considered just writing “food trucks” 250 times, but then realized that you might want something a little more specific.
I love that food trucks have become popular. I didn’t get that growing up.
We were taught to NOT accept food from strangers in vehicles.
If I were a good journalist, I’d have sampled all the foods so I could review everything.
But I only have one stomach and I’m not that good a journalist.
A good journalist wouldn’t immediately get confused and think they’d gone into the past.
To be fair, they were doing the Pepsi Challenge. I haven’t seen that since the 80s. I think I just went too far and fell into 1983. I opted not to do the challenge.
Pretty sure that’s how they trap you there. Nice try, wormhole!
Eat at a Food Truck!
If you’re willing to take the risk of time travel (and I think you should), the next food truck rally is today on Church Street by Big Spring Park.
Third Friday of each month through October. It’s free to attend, but bring money. You’re gonna want some food.
Or booze.
There’s booze! There’s a beer garden, usually across the street at the Von Braun Center. There’s also a small one at the Huntsville Museum of Art that has wine and sangria.
Here are the trucks I saw…
- Badd Newz BBQ
- Southerland Sno Depot
- Piper & Leaf
- Fire & Spice
- Nanny’s Old Fashioned Lemonade
- Ice Works Shaved Ice
- Regale Cupcakery
- I Heart Bacon
- Back Alley Bistro
- Tim’s Cajun Kitchen
- Manic Organic
- Earth and Stone
- French Beastro
- Washington Square
- Sugar Belle
- Nothing Bundt Cakes
- Suzy’s Pops
- Tropical Sno
I also saw a vendor selling homemade dog treats. They had a gigantic bowl of water for the hot doggies. It was so hot that day that that bowl was starting to look good to me as well.
There was also a local church handing out free water, which was pretty cool.
What I Ate!
I ended up getting The French Connection sammich from Back Alley Bistro. It was a fancy sammich with brie, salted candied pecans, and Amish pepper jelly. Quite yummy.
Then I had a ginger lemongrass popsicle from Suzy’s Pops. I seriously considered getting one of the ones with alcohol in them, but the beer garden beckoned. I got some Straight to Ale instead.
It wasn’t fair though. So many options. I wanted to try so much. But I guess that’s why they have more than one rally. You can just start at the beginning and work your way down till autumn.
And then once fall hits and you’ve gotten used to the food truck fix, you’ll have to improvise.
No more rallies till spring. You’ll have to ask random people in trucks if they’ll cook you some food. I wouldn’t recommend it though. I mostly just got dirty looks.
