Do you think you work well under pressure?
How about being locked in a room beside 6 other people with only 60 minutes to solve a mystery?
[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”44001″]
That is the premise behind the escape room game – the newest entertainment trend that takes an ordinary night out and turns it into one unforgettable bonding experience. More and more cities are playing host to escape room businesses, with Huntsville being the newest city to call one their own.
I’m talking about Huntsville Escape Rooms, a locally owned, one of a kind escape room business that opened last year.
Tickets have been selling like hotcakes, so I grabbed a couple in order to experience this phenomenon first-hand. What started out as two escape rooms quickly became three, then four.
Now Huntsville Escape Rooms has opened their newest room, The Queen Pin. I have so far been locked in two of their rooms, and this recent trip to solve The Queen Pin shows that they have really upped their game! This is definitely something different than the typical movie/bar/restaurant scene most people choose when they go out. It is the perfect destination for a girl’s night out, a date night, or even a team-building exercise for coworkers.
Here is a short list and descriptions of the rooms Huntsville Escape Rooms has to choose from:
The Informant
Compete in a race against time to find an FBI Informant’s clues before the mafia does.
The Psych Ward
A disgraced scientist and asylum patient has toxic plans for revenge. Break his code before havoc is released into the city.
The Phantom
Unlock clues to find a powerful virus – a secret creation devised by a wealthy Scottish nobleman and sought after by criminal organizations.
The Hexadron
Escape an alien transport station before an alien race can extract and harvest your genetic code.
The Queen Pin
Find incriminating evidence to put a notorious cat burglar behind bars once and for all.
Huntsville Escape Rooms – What to Expect
So what do you need to expect before you decide to get “locked in”?
Just check out my list below:
1) Safety is a Priority
This basically means that you will have to sign an insurance waiver before you can get locked in a room.
It might not be a good idea if you are not a fan of enclosed spaces, but if you still want to take the plunge, don’t worry. There are emergency exits in both rooms, so that you can leave quickly if you need to.
2) The Owners are Awesome
When I first walked into Huntsville Escape Rooms, I was immediately greeted by one of the co-owners, who was extremely welcoming and answered any questions that me or my teammates had. It was a great, laid back environment that put any anxieties at ease.
3) Be Prepared for Brainteasers and Puzzles
That tip was kind of a given, but I wanted to give a heads-up on what exactly you will be dealing with here. The rooms are riddled with hidden clues, codes, and locked containers that need to be solved. Which brings me to my next tip….
4) Teamwork is Key
There will be up to six other people locked in a room with you, and you cannot have your cellphone or other handy devices on you to help solve clues, so you will have to rely on your brain and the brains of the other people with you.
Fortunately, you get an unlimited number of clues given to you via a television screen set up in the rooms, so your team won’t get stuck too long on anything.
5) Have Fun
This is a truly unique experience that will allow you to bond with your teammates (or at least teach you how to work with someone without killing them).
The only thing you should be worried about before trying Huntsville Escape Rooms is becoming addicted to being locked in!

I have done both rooms and loved every minute of it! Incredibly well thought out stories, excellent execution. Super excited about their rooms that are coming and getting my co workers out there. I think they open a new room in about a month!! You are right – the owners are AWESOME!! Check out their website:
