There’s only two places in Huntsville that can give you an adrenaline rush without you ever having to leave your seat.

1. Taking a ride on the Space Shot at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.

2. Sitting in on a Huntsville Havoc or UAH Chargers hockey game.

Huntsville is home to not one, but two popular hockey teams – which means double the action and double the fun.

Crazy things can happen both on and off the ice, thanks to UAH Chargers mascot Charger Blue and Havoc mascot Chaos. These party animals take team spirit to a whole new level.

Huntsville Havoc’s mascot took a break between pumping up the crowd to give me a little insight into life as a hockey mascot.

First off, what kind of animals are you and your sidekick, Ruckus?

Rukus and I are Wolves. I’ve been asked if I was a cat, dog, squirrel, etc.

We are wolves.

What do you like to do to get the crowd pumped during games?

We do several things! Whether it be to get a chant going or bang on a cow bell we have, we do what it takes to get the crowd going.

Does your sidekick, Ruckus, ever steal the spotlight?

I’d definitely say that little stinker steals the spotlight. He’s easily the more favored of the two. ALTHOUGH, my jersey did auction off more than his this last time around. I’ll never let him live it down.

What was the one thing you wish Huntsville knew about the Huntsville Havoc?

One thing I wish Huntsville knew about the Havoc is that they’re a fun team to watch. The team in general are a class act on and off the ice but also, the sport of hockey in general is for EVERYONE.

A lot of people are very skeptical about going to watch one of our games because they either have no idea about the sport, or think because it’s not football, they wont be into it.

I haven’t run into a person who has gone to a game and said ” Wow, I really hated that”. It’s the type of sport that, no matter what, you’re going to have a good time. It’s a fast paced game, very physical, it’s cheap and the mascots aren’t too bad either!

What is your favorite part about a live hockey game?

My favorite part of a live hockey game is the atmosphere. Usually everyone’s day to day consists of waking up, going to work, coming home and getting a good night’s sleep. The stress and tension from a work week builds and where do they get to release all of that? A hockey game. You get to be a different person. A crazy person. You can scream and yell and cheer. Overall its just a fun place to be and there’s always a lot of excitement.

Has a fan ever asked you to sign something crazy?

I was once asked to sign a baby. At first I was confused but then next thing you know I’m signing this baby’s forehead. Who doesn’t have signing a baby’s forehead on their bucket list?!
