We have the good fortune of living in a city that understands the value of historic homes.
Thanks to the vision of the late Architect Harvey P. Jones, the Twickingham district features preservation of some of the best architecture styles in the United States.
These houses have been complemented by gardens and grounds designed by Landscape Architects and landscape designers that are historical in nature, fun and whimsical.
Through the Gate
Gardens have the power to heal, allowing us to unwind from the stress of the day, extending our living areas outside the walls of the house and engaging us with nature even in a small way. Gardens can take our breath away evoking emotions through all our senses.
Now here is your chance to visit through the gate of some of these historic gardens.
See what others are doing in their own outdoor spaces at the first Historic Huntsville Foundation Spring Garden Tour on June 7 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
With five gardens and an easy walking trip, I’m sure you will be in for a treat of horticultural proportions. See hardscape patterns for patios and what’s blooming this time of year and get ideas for your own garden space.
Complete with a garden party at the end of the tour in a bonus 6th garden, this will be a great way to spend an afternoon and unwind all while supporting the Historic Huntsville Foundation mission.
Before or after you have toured these gardens, make sure to head to Harrison Brothers and pick up the book Through the Garden Gate to see more of these types of spaces.
