Family Fun

These events are geared towards kids and family. Your little pumpkins love an excuse to wear a costume!

Punkin Chunkin Fall Festival

• Date and Time: Saturday, October 15
• Location: Big Spring Park East
• Cost: Free to attend, suggested donation of $5 to play games
• Event Information

The Make-A-Wish Alabama Punkin Chunkin Fall Festival will feature a group and individual pumpkin toss contest, food trucks, beer vendors, live music, pumpkins decorated by wish kids, and a kids area full of pumpkin-inspired carnival games.

Punkin’ Pickin’ Extravaganza

• Date and Time: Saturday, October 15
• Location: North Alabama Railroad Museum
• Cost: $20
• Event Information

An alternative to the traditional pumpkin patch, the North Alabama Railroad Museum is combining the thrill of picking a pumpkin with the excitement of a train ride!! Several times to chose from throughout the day.

Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll

• Date and Time: October 16, 2 – 4:30 pm
• Location: Maple Hill Cemetery
• Cost: Free
• Event Information

History comes alive with over 70 costumed characters representing some of the famous residents of Maple Hill Cemetery. Presented by the Huntsville Pilgrimage Association.

Arts Huntsville’s Pumpkin Patch

• Date and Time: October 17 – 31
• Location: Downtown Huntsville
• Cost: Free
• Event Information

Arts Huntsville’s Pumpkin Patch will showcase the community’s creativity in downtown Huntsville. Carved and decorated pumpkins will be displayed in the windows of downtown Huntsville businesses and the public can vote on their favorite pumpkin.

Scarecrow Trail Night Hike

• Date and Time: Friday, October 21
• Location: Huntsville Botanical Garden
• Cost: Adult Tickets $10; Children Tickets $7; Children under 3 free
• Event Information

Enjoy a family friendly night hike through the Scarecrow Trail at Huntsville Botanical Garden! Bring your own flashlight. Warm cider and snacks served mid-way. Wear comfortable walking shoes for this mile long hike!

Doctor Osborn’s Magical Laboratory

• Date and Time: October 28, 29, 30
• Location: Fantasy Playhouse
• Cost: $7
• Event Information

Doctor Osborn will bring his annual bag of Halloween tricks and treats back to Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theatre. This is family fun (balloons! magic! comedy!) for all ages. Costumes are encouraged.

The Great Pumpkin Carving Contest

• Date and Time: Friday, October 28, 4 – 8 pm
• Location: Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment
• Event Information

Lowe Mill A&E’s first ever The Great Pumpkin Carving Contest! Categories include Scariest, Funniest, Most Creative, and separate age groups. Prizes for the best in each category. It’s only $5 to carve and $5 to smash! Bring your own tools. There will be food trucks and vendors. This event is free to attend, $2 dollar parking donation.

EarlyWorks Halloween Bash

• Date and Time: Friday, October 28, 4:30 – 7:30 pm
• Location: EarlyWorks Alabama Constitution Village
• Cost: $5/child, adults are free

Put on your costumes for Halloween games, crafts, and safe Trick or Treating at Alabama Constitution Village!

Bootanica

• Date and Time: Saturday, October 29, 10 am – 1 pm
• Location: Huntsville Botanical Garden
• Event Information

Put on your costumes and come on out to Huntsville Botanical Garden for a happening Halloween party. We’ll have games and activities, hay rides, hula hoop contests, pumpkin painting for the kids, creepy critters and Steve the DJ helping with the Halloween fun.

Trick-or-Treating at Lowe Mill A&E

• Date and Time: Saturday, October 29, 1 – 4 pm
• Location: Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment
• Cost: Free
• Event Information

Lowe Mill A&E opens their large, indoor facility to families as a fun and weather-proof alternative to outdoor trick-or-treating. Instead of tricks, we kindly ask you to bring some candy to donate to the artists and makers who will hand out the treats from their studios.

Zombies vs. Humans Teen Masquerade Ball

• Date and Time: Saturday, October 29, 8 – 12 pm
• Location: Huntsville Madison County Public Library
• Cost: $10 in advance and $15 at the door
• Event Information

This year’s Teen Masquerade Ball will kick off with a game of Zombies v. Humans (bring your own Nerf gun for maximum fun). A Zombie Prom will follow, and will feature cosplay contests, lip-sync battles, zombie makeup effect artists, prizes, refreshments and more. Ages 12-18.

 Oktoberfest

• Date and Time: Monday, October 31, 4 – 8 pm
• Location: Alabama A&M University, Agribition Center
• Cost: Free
• Event Information

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s Urban Affairs and New Nontraditional Programs unit will hold the first Oktoberfest with activities to include trunk or treat, a hay ride, pumpkin carving, face painting, a costume contest, food, music, games, door prizes, and much more.

Spooky Space Spectacular

• Date and Time: Monday, October 31, 4 – 8 pm
• Location: US Space and Rocket Center
• Cost: $20 for a family of up to five or $5 per person
• Event Information

Come dressed in your best costume and join us as the Rocket Center holds the third annual Halloween Spooky Space Spectacular. Activities include a costume contest, hands-on science activities and more. The Space Shot, G-Force, and Lunar Lander simulators are also part of the fun, weather permitting.

The Haunt at Three Caves – SOLD OUT

Salty Nut Brewery’s Halloween Costume Contest & Horror Flicks

The Huntsville Ghost Walk moves to Madison to explore the spirits haunting this city in the Madison Ghost Walk.
