Ready to shake it this Friday?
Grammy award-winning Latin group Grupo Fantasma will be performing at Lowe Mill Friday, August 30th. This 9 piece band will sure to have you dancing to the beat of their signature sound, described as “latin cumbia funk” on their Facebook event page.
Time to Dance
The last time I had witnessed their performance the music was infectious, and the dance floor was never empty. It is safe to say that their musical appeal and live performances are on par with the most popular touring acts in music today.
This appeal seems to reach local salsa lovers (the dance, not the dip), as I have been treated to little gems of talent the past few times I have seen Grupo Fantasma play. But less talented dancers like myself needn’t be discouraged; the floor is open to anyone who loves grooving to a good beat. This time the venue includes a nice, cushy lawn, so a fear of falling is no excuse!
Friday Fun
Local salsa band Mambo Gris Gris will open for Grupo Fantasma this Friday, August 30th starting at 5:00pm. Tickets are $10 in advance (plus $1.34 fee) and $15 at the door with kids 12 and under getting in free. Tickets can be purchased on the Lowe Mill’s website.
I recommend bringing a blanket and lawn chairs (and your dancing shoes, of course) since the concert takes place on Lowe Mill’s back dock. See you Friday!
