Cinco de Mayo is fast approaching, and we thought what better way to get you excited than to share some of our favorite eats at Mexican restaurants in Huntsville!
Disclaimer: This is not a list of “authentic” Mexican food.
Also, be sure to check out our list on 6 of our Favorite Mexican Restaurants in Huntsville here.
Okay, let’s get started!
Nashville Hot Chicken Taco – Local Taco
We love the modern take on Mexican food at Local Taco, so what’s better than a hot chicken taco?!
It’s topped with coleslaw, poblano cream sauce, cilantro, and Wickles Pickles. Add their Mexican street corn or Mexi Tater Tots to take your meal to another level.
Spicy Pork Tacos – El Cazador
I’ll just say it now, it’s not a list about tacos or Mexican food in general if it doesn’t include the Taco Bus. In our opinion, it’s still probably the best spot in Huntsville for authentic tacos.
Green Bean Burrito – Bandito Burrito
No, the Green Bean Burrito does NOT have green beans in it (we’ve been asked that more times than I can count!), but it does have green sauce, cheese, and refried beans. It’s a staple menu item there, and people take their Green Bean Burritos very seriously.
Jerk Chicken Tacos – Ale’s Kitchen
It’s not typical to go to a brewery and expect to eat some of the best tacos you’ve ever had, but maybe you’ve never been to Ale’s Kitchen at Campus 805. These tacos have the perfect amount of spice and delicious chargrilled chicken thighs.
Totally Rad Tacos – Fire & Spice
You know what’s totally rad? Fire & Spice, A SMOKEHOUSE in Huntsville, realizes times are changing and vegetarians want to eat delicious, exciting food too. Even some meat eaters are sure to like these tacos filled with mixed peppers, the right amount of heat, pico, and the most delicious pinto beans.
Mexican Mac & Cheese – Taco Mama
We HAD to include this one on our list! Not only do we love Taco Mama’s tacos and burritos (they’re HUGE), but they have some amazing mac and cheese! Order some next time as your side item and let us know what you think.
Breakfast Tacos – Cyn Shea’s
We love tacos. All tacos. Especially when you can eat them for breakfast! Eggs, cheese, sausage, pico, cilantro, and sour cream. Add a coffee and that is what our breakfast dreams are made of.
Vegetarian Calabacitas – Manic Organic
Organic zucchini, squash, corn, onion, garlic and chipotle peppers, jalapeno sour cream, southwest slaw, and feta cheese make up these outstanding tacos from one of our favorite food trucks in town. If you’re the kind of person that appreciates complex flavors and trying new dishes, you need to go get these tacos immediately!
Fajitas – El Azteca
Because who doesn’t love seeing (and hearing) your food come out on a sizzling hot skillet? These fajitas can EASILY feed two hungry people, but we have been known to each eat our own.
Have you tried any of these? Let us know!
