Fall has finally started to come to Alabama, and with the leaves changing into a beautiful rainbow of colors, now is the perfect time to be outside. Here are a couple of ideas for fall sightseeing in Alabama for those who want to experience the beauty of nature:
Take a train ride at the North Alabama Railroad Museum

What better way to take in the different colors of leaves than with a scenic train ride? The North Alabama Railroad Museum located in Chase, Alabama, is offering a Fall Color Special ride starting October 26th. For a complete list of the museum’s special train rides, visit their website.
The Fall Color Special is for participants who want to experience Alabama’s full transition into fall. Starting in late October, this train ride takes place among five miles of track to allow passengers to spot all of the falling leaves and changing trees, so be sure to bring a camera! Rides last a little over an hour, while the train travels over the historic Huntsville branch of the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis Railway.

For Alabamians looking to squeeze in more time on the water before winter kicks in, look no further than the Pickwick Belle. An authentic paddle wheel riverboat, the Pickwick Belle has been hosting public and private chartered cruises around Decatur’s Wheeler Lake since June 2012. Operating out of Port of Ingalls Harbor, this Southern Belle sports a twin deck with the bottom deck enclosed, a dining room, gallery, restrooms, and concessions/cash bar.
The first deck is outfitted with seating for sightseeing guests, live entertainment, and a dance floor if you’re not too seasick. Fall Sightseeing Cruises run from October 5-November 30, with a Halloween and Thanksgiving Cruise for those that want to celebrate the holidays on the water. Dinner Cruises are also available.
