Apple picking, apple cider, apple slushies, fried apple pie – you just can’t go wrong if you enjoy apple flavors. We suggest purchasing your tickets for Pick Your Own apples in advance online (they book up!) and if you select a morning spot you can then have room for other adventures in the afternoon.
We purchased half a peck which was about 10 apples and we also couldn’t leave without a few donuts and a gallon of fresh cider. They have a great little store with a variety of items and all things apple.
Lyon Family Farms
Next on the days schedule is a quick drive to Lyon Family Farms! This is where you will spend a large portion of your day because they have so many things for you to do. You can also take a ride to pick your own pumpkin (save this for last!). Pumpkins picked are $6 each.
You’ll find swings, bubble stands, pillow bounce, pick your own flowers, corn bin, farm animals, slides, and more! We spent the afternoon bouncing from activity to activity.
We took a break from all the activities to grab a quick lunch! Lyons offered pizza and barbeque with lots of picnic tables in the shade. We couldn’t resist the BBQ Mac&Cheese with homemade chips.
The Petting Zoo offered a unique chance to get up close and personal with horses, goats, donkeys, and pigs. You can purchase food if you are brave enough to hand-feed a few!
You can also visit Tate Farms if you have a preference for your Farm Day! I would just choose one though – for the sake of time!
MoonPie John's Mercantile
Last but not least – we made a quick jump over to MoonPie John’s Mercantile – because this family loves MoonPie’s and we had no idea this place existed!
This cute little mercantile takes you back in time with cool souvenirs, locally crafted gifts, vintage sodas and candy, toys, coffee, hand-dipped ice cream, snacks, and more.
We haven’t even gotten to the MoonPies! Did you know there are Pumpkin Spice and Mint Chocolate Moon Pies? We didn’t! They had over 7 flavors of MoonPies available – and lots of fun branded items.
It's Fall Ya'll
This is a great start to a fun weekend – be sure to double-check all hours, tickets, and always purchase in advance if you can. Let us know if you have anything in the area you would add – happy fall!
