You know his songs. From “Jailhouse Rock” to “All Shook Up” to “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” to “Viva Las Vegas.”
You know his famous hip swivel. His slicked back hair. His movies.
But Elvis is more than songs and swivels. He is an artist. A presence. A legend. And you can see him (or the next best thing) Thursday, February 21st thanks to Broadway Theatre League.
#1: More than a Concert
Elvis Lives is more than your standard musical review or concert. It is both a live musical journey and a multi-media adventure. The Elvis tribute artists will be joined by a live band, back-up singers and dancers, along with an Ann-Margret tribute artist.
#2: The Ultimate Elvises
The performers in Elvis Lives are not chosen from traditional auditions. Instead the four performers that portray Elvis are the finalists from the Elvis Presley Enterprises’ annual worldwide Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. In this annual competition, contestants are judged on how they represent the legacy of Elvis Presley in the following categories:
- Vocals – Overall singing ability
- Style – Ability to present a look and style that well represents Elvis during the era of the song being performed
- Stage Wear – Rating of the ETA’s stage wear, including quality and proper fit
- Stage Presence – Ability to recreate the charisma Elvis created when performing on stage
#3: Going to Graceland
The Graceland archives have made iconic Elvis imagery available to the Elvis Lives show.
#4: Complete Musical Package
No matter what part of Elvis’ career is your favorite, Elvis Lives will cover it! From the 50’s to the 60’s to his movie career and his concert years, this show highlights all of Elvis’ greatest moments. And each of these eras is portrayed by a different artist.
Here’s a look at the fellas you’ll see performing on stage:
- Bill Cherry: Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest winner from 2009
- Leo Days: One of the few Elvis tribute artists who performs all three eras of Elvis
- Ben Klein: Currently holds nine first place competition titles across North America
- Kevin Mills: one of the countries most sought after and popular performers in the industry.
