Want to see Eula and Tommy Battle’s yellow labrador sashay down the runway for charity? You’ll have to wait until next year because the Dog Ball is a sold out event.
This weekend marks the 23rd annual Dog Ball, which kicks off Friday evening at the VBC. Guests will see 50 of the best breeds in the Tennessee Valley take the floor to entertain guests by walking in a “Prancing with the Stars” themed event.
Also up for grabs are a variety of highly sought-after silent auction items for which the fundraiser has become known. Included this year is the traditional grand prize drawing for two tickets to the 2012 Westminster Dog Show and a $2,000 Visa card.
Also available for auction are five fire hydrants painted by local artists with whimsical creativity:

For all of you dog enthusiasts out there don’t let the sold out event give you “paws.” Be ready to buy Dog Ball tickets early in 2013. Also, dogs, cats and other animals are available year round for adoption at the shelter at 2812 Johnson Road, Huntsville, Alabama. Phone 256-881-8081 for more details.
The Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS) was established more than 40 years ago and is a 501(c)3, No-Kill Shelter. The group is dedicated to furthering the humane care and treatment of animals and providing adoption services for the unwanted and homeless pets.
