We have been supporters of The Shops at Merchants Walk since its opening and can’t say enough good things about how well it was planned.
One reason we feel this way is due to the fact that each food-related business in the shopping center is the first in the Huntsville area.

It’s great having new experiences in the city, and the diversity of options here is excellent.
We’re constantly going to Whole Foods, Maki Fresh, Farm Burger, and Local Taco.
Pictures of some of our meals there show why that’s the case!
Diverse Dining at Merchants Walk in Huntsville
Whole Foods
Whole Foods is a dream for foodies.
The ability to find so many specialty foods in one place in a central area of Huntsville is fantastic for the city. In addition to shopping, it’s a go-to option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with its large hot bar and salad bar.
Craving pizza, pork buns, ramen, sushi, tacos, or just a sandwich? They have you covered.
Cold brew coffee and craft beer on draft are a few more reasons to love it here.
Also, keep an eye out for details about seasonal four-course meals with beer pairings that are put on throughout the year. In the meantime, you can read our post about it here.
Farm Burger
This is the place to go for a specialty burger if you’re looking for a farm-to-table experience.
Grass-fed beef, chicken, pork, and veggie burgers can all be topped with the basics or you can opt for some unique toppings like oxtail marmalade, pork belly, Humble Heart goat cheese, and roasted bone marrow if you’re feeling adventurous.
We always trust their creativity and go with the daily combo which combines a unique mix of ingredients.
Local Taco
Huntsville has many Mexican restaurants, and some people might have initially discounted Local Taco as just another standard place to get the classic Mexican dishes. Looking at the menu, it’s clear that isn’t the case.
They offer items that are entirely new to the area with their modern take on Mexican. The Nashville hot chicken taco, mission smoked chicken taco, street corn, and Mexi tater tots are prime examples.
It’s nice to have another restaurant from The Shops at Merchants Walk bringing new flavors to the table.
Check out our coverage of their pre-opening party here.
Maki Fresh
Not a fan of Brussels sprouts? We promise you that Maki Fresh can change your mind!
In addition to great sushi rolls, Maki Fresh offers a delicious variety of bowls including one of our favorites: the crispy Brussels bowl. If you’re still not convinced this is for you, try the hibachi bowl.
Presentation of the food is excellent as well, and everything here tastes as good as it looks!
