The TARDIS is landing in Huntsville this weekend.
I WISH!
But it is the next best thing; Huntsville’s very own , home-grown Doctor Who convention.
Con Kasterborous 2014 is heading into it’s third year June 28 – 29 in a new location and with an awesome special guest.
Destination Huntsville
A couple of years ago, there was buzz when a small but successful Doctor Who convention was conceived and launched right here in Huntsville at the Holiday Inn on University Drive.
It was successful enough to grow the next year and bring in actress Caitlin Blackwood (young Amelia Pond). Attendance doubled.
And this year? Expect the crowds at The Westin at Bridge Street Town Centre, where the convention has been moved, to triple!
Why?
Sylvester McCoy. The 7th Doctor!
The Doctor is Coming
I recently spoke to Con Kasterborous Chair, Bonnie Auten, about preparing for the arrival of such a big special guest.
“Last year was amazing with Caitlin Blackwood. We are so excited and honored to have Sylvester McCoy this year.”
Con-goers can go to McCoy’s panel and have a chance to meet him for autographs and pictures. Having an actual Doctor at Con Kasterborous is HUGE!
I asked Auten what attendees can expect this year overall. She said, “Attendees can expect larger panel rooms, more panels and a larger Artist Alley. The Special Guests will also have tables set up in the hall where they will be meet them and purchase autographs.”
Other special guests include:
- Gareth-David Lloyd (Lanto Jones from Torchwood)
- Andrew Cartmel (Head-writer for 7th Doctor)
- Kelly Yates (Doctor Who comic book artist)
- Lady Soliloque (Author/Fan Video/Audio Editor)
Allons-y
Attendees can also expect awesome cosplay (with a contest), vendors, artists, panels, music, photo ops, dancing, connecting, making friends, squeeing and much more!
Dust off your converse, polish the sonic screwdriver, and grab your companions for Con Kasterborous 2014 this weekend.
Huntsville Whovians unite!
