“Primitively euphoric” is how one friend described the experience.
Feeling the hatchet fly out of your hand and stick firmly to the wooden target with a satisfying thud is the newest way to get an adrenaline rush in Huntsville.

The newly opened Civil Axe Throwing in Campus 805 is the perfect place to have a unique night and engage in some friendly competition
Civil Axe Throwing
Following the growing popularity of axe throwing clubs in the U.S. and Canada, Civil Axe Throwing was opened by Huntsville Escape Rooms owners to bring the trend down to North Alabama.
Participants take turns throwing small steel axes at wooden pallet targets a couple of yards away, with the goal being to make the axe stick to the target.
Instructors are on hand to give lessons on the proper axe throwing technique, and scores are kept on a chalkboard if players want to compete. Two people are allowed in the axe throwing pens at a time, and waivers must be signed beforehand.
The main rule is no open-toed shoes, so come prepared or borrow a friend’s shoes if you’re desperate.
This club is perfect for a night out with a big group of friends – bring between six and twelve people for a two-hour session that includes games and competitions.
Only bringing a couple of friends, or just yourself? Civil Axe Throwing is open to walk-ins, but make sure to call ahead for availability.
For participants that become hooked, axe throwing leagues are available for sign-up on their website.

I hope they do keep it civil.
