So this weekend is the 8th Annual Cigar Box Guitar Festival – and there’s just too much going on for one day – or one floor at Lowe Mill. The festivities begin on Friday, June 1 at 6pm with the ALWAYS FREE Concerts on the Dock. Pat Nickel and Justin Johnson will perform from 6-9pm, and it’s going to be packed, so come early and bring your favorite cold drinks! (and chairs, blankets, etc).
Let the Fun Begin!
The fun starts at high noon on Saturday, June 2 when the doors to Lowe Mill and Flying Monkey open. Check out Bill Jehle’s Cigar Box Guitar Museum, demonstrations, and if you wanna dig deep into the world of the Cigar Box Guitar, don’t miss the documentary film.
Rock On
Jam sessions will be breaking out left and right (that’s what happens when people walk around with a cigar box guitar…just about any time two or more meet up they usually start playing a little something).
There will also be some “official” jam sessions, too.
- 2:30pm: The Texicans play
- 5:30pm: 5ive O’Clock Charlie takes the stage
7 pm-midnight: the Flying Monkey Theater will be non-stop tunes from:
- Microwave Dave
- Jone Lowe
- Pat and John Nickel
- 7 Hills Stomp
- Earl Williams
- Justin Johnson
- Little Johnny Kantreed
- Nadaband.
And you won’t believe it, but this Saturday Night Extravaganza is only $15! It’s going to be too hot to be outdoors…so c’mon down to the Cigar Box, definitely the coolest place to be this weekend!
