Burritt on the Mountain is a very special place to me. My husband and I got married in the gazebo on a clear September evening eight years ago. Now that I have children who are old enough, Kris Kringle’s Candlelight Christmas has been at the top of my list as a holiday event that we can enjoy together at such a special place. Maybe it will even turn into a Jones family tradition.

Kris Kringle’s Candlelight Christmas is an illuminated wonderland of all the best of Burritt on the Mountain. Held on two upcoming nights, Friday, November 30th and Saturday, December 1st, the event was so popular last year and had such a big turnout that they had to extend the hours for this year – now 4:30 – 9:00 pm each night.

Candles, Music & More
Since I’m planning on taking my family this year, I wanted to know everything there is to know about Candlelight Christmas, so I spoke to Burritt’s Development Director, Caroline Kelly.
Here are some of the wonderful things we will get to experience:
- 500 plus candles that will light the paths around the park.
- Father Christmas himself in the mansion waiting to visit with little ones and find out what they want for Christmas.
- Hands-on activities for children including make-and-take crafts and fun activities like stringing popcorn and cranberries.
- Beautiful colors and smells and great Christmas treats like cookies, cider and roasted chestnuts.
- Music everywhere! There will be music in the church, the mansion and the cabins, with different groups playing many different styles of music.
- Christmas displays inside the two exhibit wings of the mansion.
- Getting to take a look at the exhibit about Hotel Monte Sano and the history of Monte Sano Mountain.
Sweet & Simple
Kelly told me that all of the construction is gone and everything is open for this event. If you haven’t been inside Baron’s Bluff, you can get a first-hand look- plus that’s where the cookies will be!
She also said that this event is very laid-back, with sweet and simple decorations in the cabins and more upscale decor in the mansion.
