Lowe Mill A&E Art After Hours Unveils 6 New Shows
From 6pm to 8pm at Lowe Mill A&E, attendees can see and shop the new work in all six galleries that feature artists from around the world while enjoying refreshments and meeting the visiting artists.
First Floor Ramp Gallery
The First Floor Ramp Gallery will feature work by Emily Pate called Remnants and Relics. Emily creates assemblage pieces using photos from the late 1800s and early 1900s and says, “Each piece explores the idea of a memory and what role photography plays in understanding who we are and where we came from.”
First Floor Main Gallery
Wade F. MacDonald and Anne Herbert will be featured in the First Floor Main Gallery show, Ghost Skin, an exhibit that combines her paintings with his three-dimensional pieces. Anne describes her work as featuring, “The intentional disruption of stability and clarity in my paintings acknowledges uncertainty, simultaneity, and the sensation of experience, including the process of painting itself.”
Wade’s work is a stark contrast to Anne’s but the two blend together in a striking way. Of his work Wade says, “I embrace handcraft and digital methodologies as I work toward defining sculpture that is personally and culturally significant.”
First Floor West Gallery
First Floor West Gallery will showcase the talent that’s found at the University of Montevallo with work by students and alums. The show, titled Radiant, will feature work from current students Rilee Garrett and Will Henry, and from alumni Robby Wise, Katie Lanier, Becca Maloy, and Mary Catherine Fehr.
North Floor Gallery
The North Floor Gallery will feature a Troika: Cuba Soul; a group show highlighting the work of three photographers: Chop Cooper, Karen Graffeo and Julio Larramendi. Viewers will be delighted by the colors and sights of Cuba.
Third Floor East Gallery
Chris Beck three dimensional creations will fill the Third Floor East Gallery with a show titled Out of the Void. Of his work Chris says, “I enjoy the difficulty in making hard, cold, and rigid appear soft, dainty, and delicate.”
