The Rocket Center is ready for a summer of fun with the opening of its newest exhibit. Try out a working storm shelter equipped with hands-on safety games, experience the shaking and sounds created by earthquakes and generate electricity to produce light with your own pedal power! The Cigar Box Guitar Festival is back for its 12th year at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment! This event is the longest running Cigar Box Guitar festival in the world, celebrating all aspects of Cigar Box Guitar folk culture. This event is free, $2 suggested parking donation.

The Winslow Davis music experience blends electric violin with electric guitar pedal effects, samples, drum and loop machines. Often described as a fusion violinist, Winslow executes an eclectic combination of original instrumental compositions and improvisational arrangements that range from beat-heavy, techno-influenced sessions, to haunting, melodic tunes that are lyrically poetic. Party-goers will put on their bell bottoms and boogie shoes as Thrive Alabama hosts the 18th annual Dining with Friends benefit at the historic Huntsville Depot Roundhouse, 7-10 pm. Cost to attend is $50. Funds raised from this year’s event will go the purchase of a Mobile Testing Vehicle which will allow the organization to provide free HIV testing at public events, health fairs, homeless camps, and to people with transportation barriers in rural communities.
