Love means never having to say you’re sorry.
These immortal words are from the film Love Story, a tear jerker of epic proportions. And one that stared actress Ali MacGraw, whose character is described in the film’s opening lines:
“What can you say about a twenty-five-year-old girl who died? That she was beautiful and brilliant? That she loved Mozart and Bach, the Beatles, and me?”
And if you cried along with this movie as a teen like me, you’re beyond excited about The Huntsville Museum of Art’s final Voices of Our Times Lecture featuring Ali MacGraw.
A Visit to the South
This jaunt down to Huntsville is not only Ali’s first visit to Huntsville, but also her first trip to the South! Just how to the Musuem of Art manage to get this movie star down South? Like most things in life it all comes down to who you know.
And it seems that Musuem Executive Director Christopher J. Madkour knows just about everyone. Or at least everyone who counts. And, I for one, am thrilled to have him in Huntsville. And can’t wait to see who he brings to town next!
“I was thrilled when my dear friend Ali MacGraw accepted my invitation to experience the South and its legendary hospitality as a special part of the museum’s Voices series,” Christopher J. Madkour said.
“Ali has an infectious personality and will share her passion about issues and causes which are important to us all.”
The Films of Ali MacGraw

- Goodbye, Columbus, 1969
- Love Story, 1970
- Convoy, 1978
- Players, 1979,
- Just Tell Me What You Want, 1980
Two Chances to Meet Ali
You have not one but TWO chances to see Ms. MacGraw this week!
Your first chance is Wednesday night at Voices of Our Times Ali MacGraw. Here Ali will share her life and film career with Executive Director Christopher Madkour. Everything from her early days a model to her current life in New Mexico. Then she will take questions from the audience. So come prepared! Make sure to bring your copies of Love Story! After Q & A, Ali will be autographing. (Can you say AMAZING Mother’s Day gift??) And there will also be a reception, thrown in what I can assure you will be typical Museum of Art classiness.
Your second chance to see Ali is on Thursday at A Conversation with Ali MacGraw and Christopher J. Madkour followed by a Love Story book and DVD signing and luncheon in Loretta Spencer Hall at the Museum.[spacer size=”0″]
