Whether it’s the weekend or a weekday, somedays all you want is good friends and a good cocktail. And in the summertime, I like to add a great patio to that equation. We’ve created an entire directory for just such an occasion, but i thought I’d narrow your search down just a bit. So here are some of my favorite patios in town and their specialties. Drinks on the Weekend
Where to go: Amendment XXI
About: Handcrafted cocktails with a view of downtown Huntsville. Amendment is the perfect place to go on a Friday or Saturday night with a group of 3 or 10 of your closest friends. Whether you like your drinks sweet (try the Strawberry Mule) or on the less sugary side (try the mojito) each one is hand made when you order it. And there’s no smoking.
My Recommendation: Strawberry Mule
Address: 123 Northside Square
Hours:
Tuesday – Wednesday: 5pm – Midnight
Thursday – Saturday: 4:30pm – 2:00am
cocktails after work
Where to go: Brix
About: Some days after work, you’re just in the mood to unwind with a cocktail. The patio at Brix on Airport Road is the perfect setting. With various nightly specials ranging from half priced bottles of wine to $1 beer, $4 wine, 1/2 priced martinis and delicious tapas to munch on, this restaurant will turn that frown upside down. My other favorite thing about Brix is their service. The bar tenders are top notch and owner Trey Aitken is often in the house, and his martinis are some of the best in town. If you run into him, be sure and get one of his pomegranate martinis!
My Recommendation: Pomegranate Martini
Address: 964 Airport Road
Hours:
Lunch Wednesday-Friday 11:00-2:00
Monday-Saturday 4:30-Til
Frozen Cocktails
Where to go: Cantina Laredo
About: When it’s hot outside, you need a cold drink. And a frozen one is even better! That’s what Cantina Laredo does best. Head there on Thursdays and enjoy half priced margaritas (frozen or on the rocks- that part is up to you) while sitting on their lovely patio, people watching along Bridge Street.
My Recommendation: Frozen pomegranate or mango margarita

Where to go: Furniture Factory
About: If you want to hear live music and just kick back and relax, this is the place to go. It’s relaxed atmosphere and regular schedule of great music make it the perfect place to go with your friends when you need to rock out.

a drink with your pooch

It also just happens to have one of the best happy hours in town, with speciality drinks under $5 and half priced appetizers. You also get a lovely view, with Bridge Street’s fountain in your background.
