Charlie Foster’s

Hollie Jenkins and her husband wanted to own a business with a purpose. A love for coffee fueled them in opening a coffee shop that employs people with special needs. Named after the ghost in Merrimack Hall, Charlie Foster’s with its pink tinted facade, is the cornerstone of Gaslight Alley. Jenkins chose Stovehouse for its fresh and exciting vibe. Charlie Foster’s was the first business to sign a lease at Stovehouse after touring and knowing it was going to be the perfect spot. Hollie’s favorite part of being in Gaslight Alley? “Seeing it grow plus all our fabulous neighbors”

The Vessel

Jordyn Brummett found herself again in pottery while in the thick of motherhood. Her pottery practice brought her so much joy that she decided to create a space where others can learn pottery and grow their skills. There are opportunities for everyone, beginners, pros, even classes for children. Choosing Gaslight Alley felt natural to Jordyn “The way Gaslight Alley is set up brought an immediate community of fellow Huntsville business owners” Gaslight Alley is structured so that you can wander up and down the alley, window shop, peruse and spend time enjoying the small businesses of Huntsville. On a sunny day, most stores have their doors wide open. “It has been a beautiful overlap of clients of other shops also discovering what we offer and vice versa.” 

Belle Maison

What began as a wife and husband furniture refinishing business has grown into a full fledged boutique. Bursting at the seams with colorful clothes, accessories, furniture and decor. Belle Maison’s motto is “We love to beautifully dress you and your home!” Originally Belle Maison was located in a 10×10 booth at an antique store. As the business grew, owner, Lauren Houseknect and her husband began the search for a fun atmosphere to have a permanent store, the Houseknechts fell in love with the “great mix of stores and businesses at Stovehouse, especially in Gaslight Alley.” Lauren told me “We like to think of it as our small slice of locally owned heaven right here in Huntsville”

Peachtree Interior Design/ Peachtree & Co

Carolyn Kimbro earned her Interior Design degree from Auburn University and after spending time learning and working for others, she decided it was time to go out on her own. In 2016 Peachtree Interior Design was born and in 2020 it moved, along with Carolyn and her family, to Huntsville. As a full service interior design firm, Carolyn was busier than ever in Huntsville and realized it was time to expand and add Peachtree & Co, a home furnishings store. Carolyn said she knew on her first visit to Stovehouse that this is where she wanted to be “It’s hard to explain, but the energy and atmosphere fits perfectly” The community of businesses is her favorite part of being in the Alley “We are all running our own businesses but everyone supports each other. It’s a wonderful environment and I think people coming into our stores can feel that”

The Parlor

Abbie Brown and Megan Yungkurth opened The Parlor, a full service hair salon, in 2022. Upon meeting at cosmetology school, the two owners worked side by side for many years before ultimately creating their own hair haven. The dream of one day owning their own salon came to them when they were hiking the Appalachian Trail together. Through many small steps and lots of hard work, the opportunity presented itself to open their dream salon at Stovehouse. “We could definitely see our clients grabbing a drink at Pourhouse and grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many fabulous restaurants all while getting pampered.” With a team of thirteen stylists, the team at the Parlor hopes that you will have the best experience where you leave feeling empowered.

The Party Prep Co

Tori Anderson loves a party and realized “people want hands-on help with their parties” In 2021 Tori started the Party Prep Co, a party planning service and boutique party supply store. The store began in Tori’s attic and grew as her business grew, growing online before it was time to find a brick and mortar location. She wanted to find a place to meet with clients but also provide them with a place to shop locally for hard to find, unique party supplies. Stovehouse became her first choice, “once we realized that the shops in the alley were all locally-owned and woman-owned, we were sold.” Tori’s family helps her with the business and they usually find themselves there together on Saturdays, “My daughter enjoys playing with the other business owner’s children, and I love that!” She also mentioned that the other business owners’ kids will mimic their parents and create pretend stores or coffee shops or lemonade stands in the Alley.
