Nick’s Ristorante is fast becoming one of my favorite restaurants in the Valley, and judging from the large crowd on a recent Saturday night visit, word is spreading. As is the case with many fine dining restaurants in Huntsville, its location is deceiving of the elegant surroundings and exceptional food and service you will experience once you enter the doors. Nick’s Ristorante is located in Creekside Corners off of Bailey Cove Road in the former “Corner” location that many of you natives of the local music scene may remember.

Kitchen away from Home

Nick’s Ristorante is family owned and operated and you feel the difference the minute you step inside. You are almost always greeted by David or Nick Mikus, and they will very quickly remember your name and make you feel at home.

They offer a wide variety of menu items, focusing on Italian family recipes that they have prepared in their own homes for guests for years. Nick’s also serves one of the best filets I have ever put in my mouth. It is consistently fork-tender and perfectly seasoned.

The spaghetti is one of my favorite menu items. It is meatless, but I can promise you won’t miss the meat. It is amazingly thick, rich and flavorful. The fresh catch of the day is also a sure bet. Steaks and chops come with your choice of two sides and I highly recommend the sweet potato fries. They are amazing.

Other favorites are the appetizers of fried green tomatoes topped with lump crab meat, the crab stuffed Portobello mushroom cap, and the smoked salmon served with cream cheese and crackers. On this particular visit, my husband and I shared the downright sinful Brownie Al Capone. A rich, decadent brownie topped with ice cream, chocolate and berries. It was a fabulous ending to an outstanding dining experience.

Nick’s Ristorante also offers a full bar (click here for a full wine list)and offers a wide range of cigars for purchase. The bar area is smoking, so no one under 19 is permitted in the restaurant. However, if you are anti-smoke, don’t let that keep you away. The dining room is non-smoking and is completely separated by glass doors. The bar offers tables for dining as well as cozy sitting areas for enjoying a cocktail with friends.

This is a fine dining experience not to be missed, with excellent service and fantastic food.
