Chef Crystal McKone received her Culinary Arts degree from the French Culinary Institute (now the International Culinary Center) in New York City. She then moved to Atlanta to begin her career at restaurants like Tom Colicchio’s Craft Atlanta, the St. Regis Hotel and Buttermilk Kitchen. She uses the freshest ingredients to create seasonal menus that are sure to please at Old Town Stockhouse, and all items on the menu are gluten free. Enjoy scallops with crispy rice cake, avocado mousse and cucumber mint-jalapeno salsa or maybe the center-cut prime filet with a red wine reduction. Crawmama’s is a place that will welcome anyone with open arms. Opening is 1987, Charlotte Webb saw a need for fresh seafood in the Lake Guntersville area. So, she found a company in Bon Secour, Alabama, and she loaded her van down with coolers and headed south. This once tiny restaurant only seating 12 can now accommodate over 300 people. They still bring in the freshest seafood for customers, and the customers line up every Thursday through Saturday for their food. Their specialty is, of course, crawfish. But don’t let that deter you. Their current menu has over 75 items to choose from including alligator, crab legs and shrimp.

Another must eat goes a little further into Albertville. Papa Dubi’s owner, Will Younghouse, brings generations of family recipes to his kitchen, showing off his Cajun roots. Locals rave over the Imperial sauce layered over a fresh catch and Cajun rice. You can also enjoy weekly specials from beef tips and rice to smoked wings.
