Did you know that 36 children are diagnosed with cancer every day? More than that, cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children. The statistic is heart-wrenching but there is something you can do to help this weekend.
Join the Huntsville Young Professionals at Kiwanis Soccer Park on Saturday, June 2 for a kickball tournament benefitting CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. The money the group raises will support children’s cancer research so that one day every child will be guaranteed a cure, and a ‘Return to Recess.’
Making a Difference
Rachel Osby, President of the Huntsville Young Professionls commented, “HYP has always been a great way for young professionals to network and meet others in the Huntsville area. With ‘Kickball for a Cause,’ we’re so excited to show how young professionals can support our community and the greater good. Come out and play or watch kickball with fellow YPs, have fun, and help us “kick” cancer – there’s no better way to spend an afternoon.”
How to Join
To participate in the fundraiser go to ‘Return to Recess’ and join an HYP team, or create your own. Each team must consists of at least 10 players and there is a requested donation of $10 per player.
To date, there are five teams already in place:
- Cousin Vinny for the Kids
- Delta Zeta
- Johnny and the Cobra Kais
- The Avengers
- Free Agents-an open-to-anyone team
If you would like to play, but do not have enough people for an entire team, then you should sign up for the Free Agents team, captained by Clinton Orr.
The Huntsville Young Professionals are proud to team up with CureSearch for the inaugural kickball for a cause tournament. The weather is forecast to be beautiful, so come out and enjoy a day in the sun with friends while helping fight children’s cancer!
