Are you ready to learn a new skill or find a new hobby? It’s hard to believe we are headed into 2023 and now is a great time to get started with a new craft. Burritt on the Mountain hosts a Folk School Program that offers a variety of crafts and classes throughout the year.

Fiber Arts: Fall Knit Bits at Burrritt
Come join our growing kitting community at Burritt! If you have basic knitting experience, but want to expand your knowledge, this is for you. Each meeting covers a different topic in a short, snack-sized session rather than a longer project-based class. You can register for one, two, three, or all four dates! Ceramics: Open Studio Sessions
Have you taken a ceramics class and want more practice or to create your own projects at your own pace? Open studio sessions are for students who have taken at least one ceramics class at Burritt or have previous ceramic experience from another studio. More Information and Registration

Wire wrapping in jewelry can be found in a wide variety of techniques. In this 3 hour class, you will gain an introduction to my technique that is perfect for any skill level. More Information and Registration
Master Workshop: Leather Crafting with Tom Slavicek

Wood Burning: Holiday Ornaments
Learn the techniques of wood-burning while creating personalized festive holiday tree ornaments! More Information and Registration
Glass: Stained Glass Wishing Star
This beginners class will cover glass cutting, ’Tiffany style’ copper foil application, tinning and building dimensionally. Students will take home a beautiful 3 dimensional star! More Information and Registration
Blacksmithing: Candle Holder
This beginner/intermediate class will focus on hammer control using half face blows, drawing, twisting, bending, and assembly by riveting. Students will create a candle holder based on 17th and 18th century rush lights. More Information and Registration
Folk Traditions: Pumpkin Carving
Take your pumpkin carving to the next level! In this class, students will learn the techniques of creating a shaved pumpkin design. Your instructor will guide you through the steps of carving a spooky skyline of various Huntsville landmarks on a locally grown pumpkin. More Information and Registration

Blacksmithing: Key Fobs and Hooks
Using the forge, anvil, and basic hand tools you will learn to draw a taper, bend, flatten or spread, twist, and punch holes. Using these techniques you will make your own unique key fobs. More Information and Registration
