Other Ways to Support the Local Music Industry
Want to help the local music scene? Check out these tips!
Attend Events
Show up! Buy tickets and show up for events regularly. Invite your friends! One of the largest hurdles for local music is attendance. Especially after the last few years, they need butts in seats and faces in the crowds!
Blast Music
Blast is your newest destination to discover local music available in the Rocket City and North Alabama. Dig in and give it a listen here.
Buy Merch
Do you have a favorite local artist or venue? Buy the t-shirts, stickers, and swag! Not only are you helping their pocketbook, but its great to see local content in the wild.
Don't Forget to Think Small
We know you are buying tickets to shows at Orion and VBC shows, they have some great things heading our way. Be sure to check out the smaller venues too! Places like Stovehouse, Downtown Huntsville, Humphrey’s Bar and Grill, and others have local acts regularly.
Donate to Art & Music Programs
We can’t have local music without support from our local art and music programs. Check out Arts Huntsville, Huntsville Community Drumline, and Maitland Conservatory.
Find Your Voice
Get Involved! Stay in-the-know with the Huntsville Music Office and local music foundations. Start with this survey/newsletter.
Support on Social
FREE! Share local concerts, buskers, solo acts, musicals, album releases, etc. Some local artists rely solely on social media for their marketing and publicity. Share their content, mark yourself as “going,” and leave reviews after a great performance.
Tip Hospitality
Most of the time when you are listening to live local music – you are at a restaurant, bar, or brewery. Don’t forget to tip your server or bartender. The service industry can directly affect the music industry. If the restaurant/bar has a great night when they hosted live music, they will make it a regular thing. Tell the venues how much you loved the entertainment!
Volunteer
When Huntsville hosts large festivals or music-based events, there is almost always space to volunteer. Sign up for Panoply, Concerts in the Park, Twickenham Fest, Monte Sano Art Festival, Round Top Festival, and others.
