How about barbecued chicken and white sauce at the place that invented white sauce? Big Bob Gibson’s in Decatur!
Ok so other than the standards that are around Huntsville, you have skipped over one of the true gems of the area. Have you ever been to Betty Mae’s over on Grace Street. We were in town for a week and went twice for lunch and we ran into a guy from Atlanta that was in town for business and he had been like a zillion times. Being from Mississippi I’ve had some really good catfish but the catfish I ate at Betty Mae’s was the best I have ever eaten. My husband had the fried chicken and he said it was outstanding. I was really looking forward to trying their oxtail but it’s only served on Sunday’s and we were leaving town on Friday so it will have to wait till we’re back at Thanksgiving. Their food is all cooked in house as far as I could see and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you haven’t tried this place, please go. You won’t be disappointed.
WE LOVE BETTY MAE’S!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE! And your testament does them justice! We’ve featured Betty Mae’s on other lists on the site and will be sure to include them again. Thank you!
