The long-awaited new Sam & Greg’s Pizzeria location is back open in downtown Huntsville on the square! And we couldn’t wait to try it.
New Location, New Menu
This new location, right across the square from their previous location, is much bigger, more open and airy, with a lot more seating and an awesome, huge balcony!
An expanded kitchen space allows the new downtown location to expand its menu and offer even more delicious non-pizza fare like stromboli, additional salads, flatbreads, and more.
See their full menu here.
Putt-Putt Surprise
As you enter the restaurant, there’s such a unique vibe – you immediately know you’re back in a Sam & Greg’s. A gleaming gelato case welcomes your eye right as you walk through the door.
Welcoming warm tones and lighting are used in the front of the restaurant, but gradually grow cooler and more neon as you near the back of the restaurant to the aliens’ hangout!
A blacklight nine-hole space-themed putt-putt course is right at the top of the stairs, adding such a fun element to the space!
Delicious Pizza + Great Service
And now for the food! Here is what our reviewers thought of the food at the new Sam & Greg’s Pizzeria in downtown Huntsville.

The overall atmosphere of Sam and Greg’s is really fun and enjoyable! The main dining room is bright and inviting, with aesthetically pleasing designs for the walls as well as creative pictures covering the tables.
The new building, as of a recent move, is a huge upgrade to their previous building. The new building is very spacious and feels much more inviting, as it is brighter and the overall atmosphere is more positive.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to get some great pizza and fun music! They also have a putt-putt course upstairs that super affordable and fun for kids.
WHAT HE ATE: Deluxe 10-inch Pizza
Mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, green pepper, black olives, mushrooms, onions
The food was delicious! I can say confidently that you need to come hungry ’cause this pizza is filling and comes in large portions.
I was super hungry before and ate my whole 10″ Deluxe pizza, which was wonderful! I thought the flavor and texture were great because the crust wasn’t too soft and it wasn’t burnt on the outsides.
The different ingredients were well-spread over the pizza and each bite had a similar, even taste, meaning that the construction of the pizza was careful and exact!
I would recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for a good pizza.

Sam & Greg’s has always held a special place in my heart. Since they opened in 2007, I’ve always thought of this restaurant as being one of the first great, family-friendly restaurants downtown.
The mouth-watering, hot, savory pizza is complimented perfectly by the smooth, cold, creamy gelato. Both pizza and gelato come in many different flavors and there is sure to be one to suit any taste.
I’m SO glad they reopened right downtown on the square, providing me and my friends the perfect solution any time we go eat together!
WHAT SHE ATE: Buffalo Chicken 8-inch Pizza
Mozzarella, buffalo ranch sauce, bacon, chicken, onion, and green pepper
My go-to pizza at Sam & Greg’s is the buffalo chicken. A perfect balance of bacon, grilled chicken, smokey mozzarella, and spicy buffalo sauce, combined with the vibrantly green bell pepper perfectly sprinkled on top, all come together to make one of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten.
Today I thought to dip my pizza in some ranch dressing to cool off the heat from the buffalo sauce and that made it even better!

Sam and Greg’s has been calling our name since they reopened at their new location. This new location has a similarly unique, fun aesthetic as their previous location, but x10.
Their new table tops are made up of collages of movie posters, pictures of nature, and Huntsville pieces here and there. (I even spotted an old Southern Adventures ticket in one of the tables!)
The upstairs area is much larger than the last location, providing a larger seating area for customers as well as a putt-putt area for some after-meal fun.
I really enjoyed looking around at all of the decor and am artistically inspired by Sam and Greg’s restaurant interior.
WHAT SHE ATE: Gluten-free Meatlover’s 10-inch Pizza
Mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, and bacon
The service was really good as well. We were promptly served our pizza and were given great service.
I ordered the gluten-free meat-lover pizza, and Holly (who took our order) informed me that the bread used to make the dough was from the local Mason and Dixon Bakery (a well-known and loved gluten-free Huntsville restaurant).
My pizza was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed eating it. We loved our time at Sam & Greg’s and I will recommend it to anyone as a great quality meal and great quality time.

At first, when I heard the news that Sam and Greg’s was moving locations, I was a little sad that the best pizza place would soon no longer be with us.
At that time, our office wanted to do something special, call it a funeral service we held in memoriam for our dear restaurant. It was a sad day filled with laughter and metaphorical tears. It was a bitter umami event. But the day is darkest right before the dawn.
Sam and Greg’s new location is like your favorite grandpa that passed away at 100 years old, went to heaven, and then came back as a young, healthy, perfect version of himself.
The way Sam and Greg’s staff treats you, in my opinion, was the most welcoming of any place that we’ve been to. They put effort into the little things and that makes a great impression.
WHAT HE ATE: Pesto Margarita 14-inch Pizza
Pesto, olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, mozzarella
The pizza I had today was the one I order each time I go, the Pesto Margarita. It has green pesto sauce instead of normal red pizza sauce, tomatoes, and I can’t remember what else. I scarfed it down faster than the DMV… way faster actually… so you’ll have to forgive my faint memory.
I also ate some Italian ice cream before Jordan could take a picture. I knew she’d never give me permission, so I did it without asking. AND, if that’s wrong to do, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m like a really good, fat, old yellow lab who just ate food off the kitchen counter. I knew it was wrong, but I do it every time and people still keep me around.

Disclosure – When the manager happened to notice we were writing an article about the restaurant, she offered to pay for our meal! This just showed us how on top of things the management is at Sam & Greg’s and we were very impressed and pleased with the hospitality they showed us at our visit.
