We are constantly asked for restaurant recommendations for occasions such as a date night, birthday, family in town, and just about any other reason to celebrate with food.
Giving suggestions for the perfect restaurant to fit a particular circumstance is always fun, but you don’t always need a special reason to seek out unique experiences and enjoy all that Huntsville has to offer.
That’s why we’re giving you our plan for how to spend a day enjoying some great Huntsville spots.
We made a point to choose food and drink stops in areas that will provide additional opportunities for fun whether you like walking, biking, or shopping in the surrounding area.
Whether you’re a local looking for a staycation or a tourist, you can have quite the adventure in Huntsville by checking out these local places.
24 Hours to Eat and Explore Huntsville
Start the day at Honest Coffee Roasters downtown for a coffee paired with acai bowl, oatmeal, or biscuit.
In addition to serving up delicious specialty coffee, Honest is a great hangout spot for relaxing and planning the rest of your day.
With the proximity to many local shops (such as the ones along Clinton Avenue), the historic districts (Twickenham, Old Town, and Five Points), and Big Spring Park, we suggest spending some more time exploring downtown after breakfast.
Lowe Mill is the second destination on the list and one stop shop for a diverse selection of food, art, and retail.
Choose from Happy Tummy sandwiches, Pofta Buna crepes, Mountain Valley pizza, and Chef Will vegan/vegetarian food. Pair a Piper & Leaf tea with your meal for an extra treat.
Check out Pizzelle’s Confections and Suzy’s Pops for desserts, and coffee enthusiasts will be thrilled to experience Alchemy Lounge.
Enjoy some time in the afternoon exploring the three floors of art galleries and shops.
It wouldn’t be a well balanced foodie tour if we didn’t recommend a stop at one of the many craft breweries within close proximity to Lowe Mill.
Whether you decide on Straight to Ale, Yellowhammer, Salty Nut, Innerspace, Green Bus, Below the Radar, Mad Malts, or one of the many taprooms nearby you are sure to be impressed by the selection of local craft brews.
Sticking with the local and community-minded theme, visiting 1892 East in historic Five Points for dinner is strongly encouraged.
There is a cozy neighborhood feel to the restaurant, and their fresh local menu is ideal for meat lovers and vegetarians alike.
End your night with a post dinner stroll down streets like Randolph, Clinton, Pratt, Wells, and Ward to enjoy the charm of the area.
We love our local restaurants, shops, and community. We hope you enjoy experiencing them as much as we do!

You forgot to mention that while visiting Lowe Mill to enjoy food, coffee, tea and beer (at Alchemy Lounge) you can drop in at Irons Distillery to sample bourbon whiskey and bourbon mash whiskey – and buy a bottle when the products are available
YES!!! Thank you!
