You are being pulled in a million different directions this summer, and all you really want to do is stay cool and relax. And of course, have fun.

Not everything on this list will keep you cool, but you will definitely have a good time!
1. Go to a Farmer’s Market
If you don’t have a favorite or regular Farmer’s Market, you really are missing out on the fun! Now is the time to find YOUR Farmer’s Market. Shop around… there will be one that you love more than the others.
Bonus: Bring $20 cash and buy something at each one you visit.
2. Make Plans for the Eclipse
Monday, August 21 is the first eclipse to happen since 1979 and the only one to touch just mainland Ameria since the 1200s. Turn it into the once in a lifetime thing that it is and make big plans to see it.
3. Be a Hometown Tourist
Spend a Saturday at a local attraction. You’ve got dinosaurs at the Botanical Gardens, a gold rush at Burritt on the Mountain, dog days of summer at Earlyworks Museum, and exciting exhibits at Huntsville Museum of Art. There are new things to do at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment.
Go do the tourist thing. You won’t regret it.
4. Buy Art
We are blessed with tremendous talent in Huntsville and Madison. Visit an art stroll, shop at Lowe Mill A&E or seek out a local shop at Clinton Row. Find that little piece of art that speaks to you and buy it. We should all have art that makes us happy!
Bonus: It’s a great way to remember a special family visit or to mark an important milestone.
5. Visit a New Part of Town
Are you a South Huntsville lifer? Maybe head over for dinner and a drink in West Huntsville. Coming from Madison? Hit up North Huntsville for the best lunch you’ve had in ages. Don’t be afraid to go to an event Downtown, hit a mountain trial, or pack up and head to Ditto Landing for a picnic…. you do know Huntsville’s is right next door to a river??
Explore Huntsville this summer. Adventure can be in your own backyard and a Saturday exploring with loved ones is one of our favorite summer things to do.
