Epic Comedy Hour is turning 5!
And to celebrate, they’re bringing you a weekend packed full of entertainment.

The original Huntsville comedy show normally puts on a performance every month, but for this milestone year Epic Comedy Hour will be putting on 4 very different shows over one slam-packed weekend.
Starting Friday, July 22 and ending Saturday, July 23 the festival of spectacle will include:
- The original Epic Comedy Hour show
- Dungeon: A Comedy Role Playing Show involving comedians with costumes, dice, and some Dungeons and Dragons style quests
- Ladies’ Night with special skits from Atlanta comedians and the local comedy group Cant Afford Cable
- Underwear Comedy Party, where comedians face their fears and tell jokes in the semi nude
I decided to ask creator Justin Ledlow why this year’s Anniversary weekend is so special.
Q&A With Justin Ledlow
What made you want to put on four shows in one weekend?
I felt like this was a pretty big occasion for us so I wanted to go all out. Atlanta’s comedy scene has been very helpful in helping the Huntsville comedy scene get up and running, since so many of those comics do shows with us.
We did Underwear for our 3 year anniversary and Dungeon for our 4 year anniversary, so it seemed obvious we should bring both shows back to help us celebrate 5 years.
Have you put on all four shows before? What would you say is the most popular with audiences?
The only one we haven’t done is Ladies’ Night, which is a popular sketch comedy show in Atlanta. They show videos of original sketches they’ve done and have some standups in between sketches.
We did Dungeon last year and it was a huge hit, there’s actually a compilation video of some of the best moments up on the Epic Comedy Hour YouTube page. It’s personally my favorite “theme” show because if I do the role play part, I get to improvise.
Underwear was a big success when we did it, and it’s also been a consistently good show in Atlanta too. It’s tough to say which is the most popular, it really just depends on what you’re interested in – but most importantly, they’re all hilarious and entertaining shows.
I have to ask – how naked do the comedians get in the Underwear Comedy Party show?
Almost naked. Doesn’t leave much to the imagination. I’ve seen onesies, thongs, boxers, almost anything goes. Joe Pettis runs this show, and he and every comedian I’ve seen do it have zero hesitation in going on stage in their undies.
It takes guts to do it, for sure. I’ve done it twice, in boxer briefs, and both shows were probably the most uneasy I’ve been on stage.
Huntsville has a reputation for being a nerdy town. Do people in the audience at the Dungeon show ever get too into the game?
When we did it last year, the audience was 100% with us on every role-playing journey we went on. Remi (the host and creator of the show) leads us on such a good journey that you can’t help but cheer or groan when a comic succeeds or fails at whatever they’re trying to do.
There was a moment last year when one of the comics did something and they rolled the dice, and he got an 11 – the audience exploded with cheers. That was awesome to see. That was Dungeon’s first show in Huntsville so seeing everyone share that experience with us was an awesome feeling.
This non-stop comedy weekend has a bit of a festival feel to it, especially since Epic Comedy Hour is offering weekend passes to see all four shows.
What advice would you give to an audience member that is planning on attending all four shows to prepare themselves?
I’d say remember that Lowe Mill and Flying Monkey Theater is BYOB, so come prepared.
You’re getting a weekend of 4 different shows with 26 comedians from Huntsville, Atlanta, and Chicago. You’ll get standup, sketch, D&D style Dungeon role playing comedy, and comics in their underwear. It’s also very cheap – $10 Friday night, $5 for each show Saturday night, and $20 weekend passes available that get you in to all shows. If you want bang for your buck, we got it.
Come prepared to laugh, because you’re going to all weekend long!
