I love free days.
Here is what I typically do on the rare chance that I have one. 🙂

Walk on the Greenway
After breakfast, I like to take a walk on the greenway with my dog Riley.
Since I’m on the Madison side of town, we usually hit up the Indian Creek or Bradford Creek greenways. I always enjoy the views which usually includes horses and fields.
Check out Madison greenways and Huntsville greenways.

Lunch
I don’t always eat out for lunch, but when I do I like to visit one of the local Madison restaurants such as the Main Street Café.
The restaurant is located in an old jail building and two of the old cells are private dining rooms.
I always finish my lunch with a strawberry pretzel salad when I go.

Post Lunch
To work off lunch, I usually visit Bridge Street Town Centre to people watch and do some shopping. It is not hard for me to find something to bring home with me.
From Alumni Hall to Mountain High Outfitters to Grogan’s Jewelers, there is something for everybody.
And if I get hungry, Steel City Pops, Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream and Treatery, or Orange Tree Self Serve Frozen Yogurt are perfect for grabbing a quick afternoon snack.
During the summer, there are fountains for the kids to run through, and during the holiday season, it is beautifully decorated.

Dinner
For dinner, I head over to downtown Huntsville to eat at Commerce Kitchen, one of the popular Chef James Boyce’s restaurants.
I love the lit up patio and atmosphere. The fried green tomatoes appetizer is a must, and I recommend calling ahead and making a reservation.

Post Dinner
After dinner, I take a short drive or walk over to the Furniture Factory Bar and Grill.
The Furniture Factory features a huge patio and usually has some sort of entertainment such as Karaoke, trivia, or local bands.
